The Northampton City Council commissioned a leather wall plaque from Jorge Centofanti in 1992 to celebrate the re-opening of the Guildhall.

This leather panel was based on the City’s Coat of Arms and consisted of a high relief embossing from a custom made wooden mould, on a natural russet hide with leaf gilt letters and wax varnished for protection in a public place.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II unveiled the plaque at a special ceremony on 16 October 1992.
