Engraving (fine or deep lines traced or indented on the skins)
Filigree (delicate marks or patterns)
Florentine or Venetian lacing (covering edges)
Gilding ( with gold leaf)
Goffered ( a surface pattern)
Incised (cut in)
Inked ( with artists inks)
Leather (the hide or skin of an animal that has been preserved by dressing - tawing or tanning.)
Modelling (depressing areas around a motif to create a relief)
Moulded ( high relief frame obtained with a mould)
Over-imposed (a pattern or design on parchment or vellum over
another design seen through the skin)
Painted ( with acrylic, oil or tempera paints)
Pyro-engraving (burning into the skin with heated tools)

Stamped (by hand with metal stamps)
Tooling (with small metal tools to create a background)
